NarrationCue Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 5, 2026 · Updated: September 27, 2026

NarrationCue is designed to process manuscripts and narration locally on the user’s Mac.

Manuscripts

Imported manuscripts, chapter information and saved reading positions are stored locally in NarrationCue’s application container. NarrationCue does not upload manuscripts to a NarrationCue server.

Microphone and speech recognition

NarrationCue uses microphone access only while voice following is active. It uses Apple’s Speech Recognition services to convert the user’s live narration into words for the purpose of following the manuscript. When on-device recognition is available and selected, speech processing is performed on the Mac. Apple’s standard speech-recognition service may otherwise process audio according to Apple’s privacy terms.

Data collection

The current version of NarrationCue does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics or tracking. NarrationCue does not sell personal information.

Purchases

NarrationCue offers an optional one-time purchase and an optional subscription to unlock the app after its trial period. These are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; NarrationCue does not receive, transmit or store any payment information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Support communications

If a user contacts support, including through the contact form on the NarrationCue website, the information included in that communication is used only to respond to the request and maintain the service. To limit spam, the website keeps an anonymized (hashed) record of the sender’s network address for one hour; it is not used for anything else.

Contact

Use the contact form on the NarrationCue Support page.
